Christmas 2013

(Compared to last year) Snoz has been an angel this Christmas! She received lots of presents and we've had lots of fun walking around in the mud exploring new places. We've had some storms and some sunny weather and Snoz has been great fun through it all...

reluctant to be a Reindeer though...

My sister gave Snoz a fox chew toy - she loves it!

Snoz very carefully removed the wrapping paper from her presents...

Opening presents was very exhausting!

We did have the odd blue sky

Stormy weather

The past couple of days have bought us storms; gales, flooding, hail and destruction. We have managed to take Snoz on lots of reluctant walks. She is beginning to hate rain; we took her to Perranporth beach where it began to hail the moment we stepped onto the sand, Snoz spent the entire time running with her eyes closed (one of the funniest things I have ever seen her do) and dragging us into any cave she could find for shelter. She's also on her second heat (spay after this one) and is being awfully hyper. I'm on my xmas break from work now so can spend more time battling the elements with her for a week or so...Christmas eve so far (at 9am) is promising blue skies and sunshine but I don't believe it! The rain will start again any moment, I can feel it!

'Why are we outside in this wet stuff?'

I've been looking at a forum on Shiba's and evaluating their show quality, compared to all the other Shiby's Snoz seems very tiny, she looks very short and dainty in comparison - I wonder is Snoz is a little stumpy shib ha...

Emerging from the cave we sheltered in (for what seemed like hours)

Constantine

We took Snoz to Constantine yesterday. On Saturday we did the classic Helston to Porthleven walk. I was very pleased at the weekend because Snoz did not limp or hop even once! (Well maybe once or twice.) Usually I enjoy our walks but at the back of my mind I'm fretting about her knee. A friend told me that sometimes puppies can grow out of certain cruciate ligament injuries so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

The weather was brighter than these photos would have you believe but the sea looked dangerous.

Not as impressed with the view as I always am

Nothing stops a dip in the river

Sunbathing and lying in cow pats...Snoz heaven

I guess this view was more to her taste

Looking like a little squirrelly ferret of some sort...silly Snoz

Born Free (Sennen Cove)

We decided to be brave and let Snoz off her lead in Sennen Cove; she was really good for about half an hour, staying by our sides, chasing us and not straying, she even returned when called a few times(!) Sennen was quite deserted on Saturday, despite the sunshine it was really cold and all the cafes/restaurant were mostly shut. There were a few other dogs on the beach but she mostly ignored them.

At about the 40 minute mark she suddenly realised she was not on her lead anymore and made a break for it! She ran right into a group of people and tried to engage a little boy in play (eeep!) Luckily the family also had a dog and weren't annoyed. I caught up with her and she sprang away from me; running towards the water, she didn't go too far but she let me know I was a far too slow to catch her! Eventually she went for the treat I was trying to give to her, giving me enough opportunity to grab her...She had a really great time. I love to see her running around so freely (I just wish she had more reliable recall so we could chance it more often, in less secluded places too).

Sleepy Shiba after her big day! We walked a woody walk later on and saw lots of beautiful stars. It was about 11pm by the time we got home and Snoz put herself straight to bed!
